Intro

Okay, so intro post time I guess. Hi, I’m Troder. My pronouns are he/him and I’m an FTM transgender. Have been in transition for about 5 years, been on hrt for 3 years, had top surgery a year ago. And I’m currently pursuing bottom surgery.

Doctor Who has been my hyper fixation for like the past 6 years, and omo has been about 4 years of that as well. I do interact with some other fandoms as well, but Doctor Who is my main.

I do occasionally write some fics, these can be found on my AO3: Forget_About_Me

I decided to make this blog to share some of my ideas that I might never end up writing/ might write at some point but am unsure. But honestly, everything just goes here, whatever I feel like.

This includes but is not limited to: Doctor Who, trans, autism, omo, Good Omens, the Sandman.

I write both SFW and NSFW fics. I have omo fics and normal fics, though they tend to be more dark.

My asks and DMs are open for pretty much anything; omo related; trans related; Of course, Doctor Who, though my knowledge of Classic Who is very limited. So I prefer New Who. If you want to talk DW or other things with me, Omo or not, feel free to.

However I’d prefer to keep away from IRL stuff on here, if you contact with the sole intention of that you can kindly fuck off.

I do take prompts/requests, though I won’t make promises about fulfilling anything.

DW omo related things are tagged WhoOmo.

If you look at my fics you’d notice that Ten is my favorite, I’m a Ten/Martha shipper first class. I like to torture my characters a bit, but with a hurt/comfort goal, well most of the time. I can come up with some very crazy concepts. My mind is weird okay

Note: River/Doctor is my NOTP, though I have nothing against River as a character.

minors DNI, if I see a minor I’ll block

Please if you follow me don’t do it from an empty blog, with no picture or bio. Show me that you’re human. I’m reluctant to block that but one of these days I might.

Scat’s squick to me so please keep that away from me.

Today (July 19th) is Changing Places awareness day!

What is a changing places toilet?

A changing places toilet is a toilet which can be used by disabled people like me who can’t use a standard accessible toilet. This may be because someone needs extra equipment, and/or room for carers to help them. The main features of the changing places toilet are:

  1. Lots of room! Changing places toilet must be at least 12 square metres. This means that there is plenty of room for a wheelchair user to turn around as well as room for up to 2 carers.
  2. A peninsular toilet! This is a toilet which has enough room on each side were wheelchair to be positioned for transferring. As with standard accessible toilet there are grab rails on each side.
  3. Accessible washbasin! The washbasin must have room underneath for a wheelchair user. An adjustable height washbasin is preferred.
  4. A ceiling hoist! This allows people who cannot transfer independently to be able to safely get out of their wheelchair. A person brings their own sling which is hooked onto the hoist allowing them to be lifted.
  5. An adult size changing table! This allows people need help with undressing to use the toilet, or help changing incontinence pads to have their needs met safely and with dignity. Without a changing table, many people have to resort to lying on the toilet floor to change their pads which is unsafe, undignified and unhygienic.

Why raise awareness?

The lack of changing places toilet means it’s hard for disabled people like me to leave the house. It’s limits our ability to socialise, access work/education, exercise, travel, and even attend hospital appointments. (In the UK there are only 93 hospitals with a registered changing places toilet).

I have to plan my entire life around the few changing places toilet that exist, which massively shrinks my world. It’s incredibly difficult for me to travel (less than 2% of train stations in the UK have a changing places toilet), go days out, visit the hospital, and otherwise experience the world outside my house. Hopefully one day every event like Pride or music festivals will have a mobile changing places toilet, and there will be public changing places toilet with 24/7 access in every town, as well as changing places toilets in public buildings like leisure centres, libraries, museums, cinemas, tourist attractions and shopping centres.

More info including what you can do to help the UK campaigns for more changing places toilets can be found at changing-places.org

i was interested to learn more about changing places outside of the UK, and i found, from what looks like the same organization, this international map + this Florida/Georgia/Alabama project to install more, in case anyone is in the same area and would like to learn! we apparently only have one in my city, seven in my state, which is absolutely not enough to let people go about their days freely.

Your mom and aunts aren’t on tumblr.  Please warn them about this as well.

[Image description: Two smartphone screenshots of a Facebook post by a person named Sheila Toll posted 2 Sep. It is black text on a white background and the post is public. The post reads:

I am a Family Doctor and I want to keep a promise made to a patient.

Julie was a healthy, post-menopausal woman in my care who came in for a periodic health examination. One of my routine questions, in what is called the “Review of Systems”, was to ask if she had experienced any vaginal bleeding.

She said “No” but then laughed and added, “Other than when my period came back for a few months last year”.

All health care professional are taught early on that ‘vaginal bleeding in a post-menopausal woman is Cancer of the Uterus until proven otherwise’. This comment by Julie was, therefore, a red flag (no pun intended) prompting further questions, an examination and an ultrasound of her pelvis.

Julie was surprised to see me so concerned, especially since the symptoms had not recurred over many months.

Sure enough, a pelvic ultrasound and tissue sampling confirmed Cancer of the Uterus.

Julie underwent a hysterectomy and radiation therapy. She is now healthy, cancer-free and is expected to stay that way.

After all this was done, Julie sat ME down for a talk. She told me she’d had no idea a ‘short return’ of her period after menopause was a danger signal. Furthermore, she addressed the topic with friends over coffee and discovered that, out of 20 women, NONE of them knew this symptom was abnormal! She admonished me to “Tell women this! Don’t assume we know it!”

From that day on, I have kept Julie’s advice in mind when talking with post-menopausal patients. But recently my wife suggested that I should take this to a wider audience.

So, Julie, this is for you:

If you are a post-menopausal woman and your period ‘comes back’ or you have even one episode of vaginal bleeding, TELL A HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONAL and insist on having it investigated!

Wishing you all good health and long lives. End image description.]

How powerful can be a comment ?

There is a fic I didn’t update in 3 years, I still love it but, yeah… I didn’t really plan to update it right now (I don’t have the time). I just received a comment who is kind of ‘simple’ just someone deducing what could some sentence mean and who the characters are talking about.

And you know what ? If it wasn’t for the fact that it’s 2:30 am (+ hello headache my old friend—) I would be in front of my computer and trying to write the next chapter just because of this comment. I would try to find some time ‘just’ because of a three sentence long comment.

Please people, comment. Remind us, remind the author why they spend so much time crafting these stories, why they love them. Remind us that you do like what we wrote, what intrigues you, what you thought.

You’ve heard of lemons and the Citrus Scale? Well, what about KINKTOMATO?

KINKTOMATO is an important concept in fandom. It’s a humourous re-spelling of YKINMKATO - Your Kink Is Not My Kink (And That’s OK). This is the idea that if you don’t like a particular kink or ship etc, that’s fine but you don’t need to attack or shame the people who do. Just leave them alone to enjoy their fics and art in peace and ask that they do the same in return.

KINKTOMATO is the “you do you” of fandom. It’s the “whatever floats your boat” of leaving other people alone. It’s an easy and judgement-free way of hoping that your fellow fans enjoy their content as much as you enjoy yours and understanding that different folks like different strokes.

Having preferences is human. Having squicks is totally normal. Everyone has NOTPs or lines they don’t want to cross. But fandom is a large group of diverse people with varying tastes and interests and backgrounds. Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations. Ship and let ship. Don’t like? Don’t read. Your kink is not my kink, and that’s okay.
